One Visayas to feature local heroes

Roxas City (15 February) -- A series of cultural performances depicting the heroism of some Visayan heroes will be featured in the 2nd One Visayas One People One Destiny celebration from March 11 to 14 here.

The presentations dubbed "Pasundayag" will be in the various art forms like drama, dance, music and theater.

"Western Visayas will feature the life of Graciano Lopez Jaena," said Provincial Tourism Officer and One Visayas Director Alphonsus Tesoro.

The 90-minute theatrical presentation on the life of the Ilonggo hero will be a collaborative production of the Theater Network of Western Visayas.

Another collaborative production that will feature the lives of national artists in the region will be presented during the big tourism event with the theme ‘Heroes and Nationalism."

"Central and Eastern Visayas regions will also have their respective presentations," Tesoro noted.

The regional productions showcasing its respective heroes will be complemented by an exhibit of history, heroes, culture, arts and crafts of Visayan provinces at the Villareal Stadium ground here.

The celebration will be hosted by the Capiz provincial government in close coordination with the Regional Development Council (RDC) – 6 will gather local officials and representatives of provinces, regional agencies, state universities and colleges and private sector groups of Regions 6, 7 and 8.

Tesoro added that the culture and arts festival is expected to promote awareness on the rich Visayan cultural heritage and strengthen the network of artists of the three regions. (PIA) [top]
