LTO 6 offices soon 100% fully automated

Iloilo (15 February) -- All Land Transportation Offices in Western Visayas will soon be fully 100 percent automated with the province of Guimaras being processed, according to LTO 6 director Gerard Camina, during the "Ulat sa Bayan" held here February 12.

Camina said this means LTO 6 will be part of operations all over the country where 300 offices are linked on line and on real time, to facilitate renewal of registration and issuance of licenses in a few hours and even in minutes when required papers are complete.

The LTO 6 was among the agencies which reported on the highlights of its accomplishments under the nine-year term of President Arroyo, during the "Ulat."

Moreover, LTO 6 has also enhanced its delivery of services with more offices created and upgraded, from 14 in CY 2001 to having five more, namely, the LTO Dumalag, Capiz Extension, LTO Drivers' License Renewal Centers in Iloilo City, Bacolod City, and the creation of a One-Stop shop in LTO Kalibo District office and the upgrading of LTO Barotac Viejo District office into a regular District Office in 2009.

Camina added that to further boost quality of its services 15 LTO Offices with Drivers' License Services are ISO 9001-2000 Certified, while all offices have streamlined procedures which are well established for fast and efficient service.

The efforts at enhancing services resulted, Camina said, to increased volume of transactions, from 868,173 in 2001 to 1,117, 463 generating revenue collection from Php 285,225, 301.95 in 2001 to Php 677,687,057.70 or an increase of 137.60 percent.

Without leaving environmental concerns behind, the LTO 6 has established Private Emission Testing Centers (PETC) and Regional Anti-Smoke belching Units (ASBU) that regularly check on vehicles for compliance of environmental-related laws. (PIA6/ESS) [top]
