Isabela tops 2010 CAVRAA

Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya (February 15) -- The province of Isabela recently topped other provincial delegations of the Cagayan Valley Regional Athletic Association (CAVRAA) meet this year.
Isabela ranked first among other provinces who participated to the annual regional sports meet which was hosted by Nueva Vizcaya from February 5 to 10 such as Batanes, Cagayan, Quirino and Nueva Vizcaya including two cities in the region such as Cauayan City and Santiago City.
Host province of Nueva Vizcaya ranked first runner-up while the province of Cagayan placed third runner-up in both elementary and high school categories.
Silvestre Arinos of barangay Comon in Aritao town was awarded athlete of the year for breaking the Palarong Pambansa record on high jump at 1.55 meters. Nueva Vizcaya was also awarded the most disciplined delegation.
Other Nueva Vizcaya awardees were Chiquito Juan, an athlete for javelin throw event broke a new record for earning a 4.6 meter distance; Rachel baguio for long jump at 4.0 meters; Kenneth Paul Rafanan for shut put at 8.41 meters; Johnny Jasmin for javelin throw elementary level at 40.57 meters; Nina Bulusan for shut put elementary level at 8.24 meters; Rachel Baguio for athletics run at 4.03 meters; Kurth Ruth Padilla for triple jump at 4.54 meters and John Noel Huerta for triple jump elementary level at 10.58 meters.
Other participating provinces also featured their own athletes who have excelled in their own events.
The next CAVRAA meet will be hosted by Tuguagarao City in 2011. (PIA NVizcaya) [top]
