DOST, TIM-Smartmatic, Isabela Comelec to train field personnel, BEIs on poll automation
Cauayan City, Isabela (February 15) -- With barely more than two months before the holding of the historic national and local elections using for the first time a computerized elections, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) here is going to familiarize its field personnel and the Board of Election Inspectors (BEIs) from the Department of Education the use of the Automated Counting Machine.
Comelec field personnel and BEIs in the entire province will be gathered to familiarize themselves with the use of Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS), the primary equipment to be used during the May 10, 2010 elections.
Cauayan City Election Officer Efehenia Marquez said that the Total Information Management-SMARTMATIC, Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the Comelec will jointly train all field election officers and BEIs of Isabela which is scheduled to be conducted on February 19-23, 2010 at Punta Amelita Hotel and Resort in Cordon, Isabela.
Marquez said there will be three batches of participants considering the large number of selected BEIs in the whole province.
The training is part of the Comelec’s continues Information and Education Campaign aimed at arming election field officers and Board of Election Inspectors the necessary knowledge and skills in the operation of the PCOS.
The Comelec office here is confident that the flow of providing necessary knowledge and skills to concerned election officials and election precinct workers on poll automation would successfully contribute during the actual conduct of election. (PIA Isabela) [top]
