Tagalog News: Mahigit 800 gun ban violators ang nadakip mula Enero 2010

Manila (15 February) -- Mahigit walung-daang (800) katao na ang naaresto sa iba't-ibang checkpoints sa buong bansa simula nang ipinatupad ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) ang nationwide total gun ban noong Enero 10 nitong taon.

Ayon sa ulat ng National Election Monitoring and Action Center (NEMAC), nito lamang nakaraang linggo, mahigit labintatlong (13) gun ban violators ang nahuli sa iba't-ibang checkpoints sa buong bansa.

Tinukoy ng NEMAC na halos sibilyan ang mga pinakahuling nahulihan na mayroong mga baril, mga bladed weapons at explosives.

Sa kabuuan umabot na sa dalawang-daan siyam-na-pu't apat (294) high-powered firearms ang nahuli, apat-na-raan at isa (401) low-powered firearms, pitong-daan pitumpu't-siyam (779) iba't-ibang uri ng gun replica, isang daan walumpu't anim na bladed weapons at tatlumpu't-apat na Granada at iba pang uri ng mga explosives ang nakumpiska ng mga awtoridad.

Ito ang kauna-unahang pagkakataon na ipinatupad ang nationwide total gun ban na walang exemption.

Ang hakbang na ito ay bahagi ng pinalakas na hakbang ng pamahalaan upang maseguro ang tapat, maayos at mapayapang halalan sa May 10, 2010. (ac agad PIA 12) [top]
