NVizcaya health units get motorcycles, vehicles from European Commission

Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya (February 17) -- The Provincial Health Office (PHO) including health units of 5 municipalities here received motorcycles and vehicles Tuesday (February 16) through a grant from the European Commission (EC).
The recipients were Kasibu Municipal Hospital (KMH) with one motorcycle, Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Dupax del Sur town with 2 motorcycles, RHU of Dupax del Norte with 1 motorcycle, RHU of Alfonso Castaneda town with 2 motorcycles, RHU of Villaverde with 1 motorcycle and a sidecar, Provincial Health Office (PHO) with 2 motorcycles and a vehicle and RHUs of Kayapa and Kasibu towns with 1 vehicle each.
Dr. Edwin Galapon, PHO chief said the assistance was given to help health workers in implementing their programs in the province where most of the 275 barangays are located in the uplands.
"This is just the first tranch of the 4 tranches of assistance to be given to our health units in the province this year inorder to improve our delivery of health services," he explained.
The P40 million grant by the EC through the World Bank was made to fund the comprehensive Provincewide Investment Plan for Health (PIPH) in the province which was implemented from 2006 to 2010.
The PIPH is also supported by the Department of Health (DOH) through the Formula One program and the EC.
It consists of various capability building for health workers and other public officials, procurement of various medical and laboratory equipments, procurement of communication equipments and repair and maintenance of various health facilities in the province. (PIA NVizcaya) [top]
