Tagalog News: Meralco sumobra ang koleksyon sa kustomer ng P7 bilyon, ayon sa COA

Manila (17 February) -- Sumingil ng labis sa kanyang mga kustomer ang Meralco ayon sa Commission on Audit (CoA). Ang sabi ng CoA, umabot sa pitong bilyong piso ang sobrang nakolekta ng Meralco.

Base sa report ng CoA sa Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), sa taong 2004 umabot sa P1.682 bilyon ang sobrang nasingil ng Meralco samantalang noong 2007, umabot ito sa P5.327 bilyon.

Dagdag pa ng report, hindi rin daw dapat na kinolekta sa mga konsumidor ang ilang operating expenses nito na umabot ng P3.479 bilyon noong 2004 at P2.916 bilyon noong 2007. Kasama sa dinis-allow ng COA ang paniningil ng Meralco ng parking fee sa parking area na isang kilometro ang layo mula sa Meralco office.

Ayon kay ERC executive director Francis Saturnino Juan, isinumite ng CoA ang nasabing report sa layong makatulong sa ERC sa pagpapatupad ng kanilang regulatory functions.

Ayon naman kay Pete Ilagan, presidente ng National Association of Electricity Consumers for reform, pinatunayan ng nasabing CoA report ang kanilang paniniwalang napayagan ng ERC ang Meralco na kumulekta ng labis. (DE Doguiles/PIA 12) [top]
