PGMA inspects 11.2-km farm-to-market road in Mother Kabuntalan
Manila (18 February) -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo inspected the 11.2-km Lower Taviran-Ganta road in the town of Mother Kabuntalan in Maguindanao yesterday as part of her Legacy Tour of accomplishments.
Since it is basically an agricultural area, some 20,000 farmers benefit from said P13 million farm-to-market road funded by the national government, ARMM and local government unit of Mother Kabuntalan, which was completed late last year.
President Arroyo noted the relatively peaceful situation not only in the Mother Kabuntalanin but in the province of Maguindanao thus urged the farmers to maximize the use of the barangay road which provides easy transport of agricultural products to local markets.
She said, the government's investment on infrastructure including farm-to-market roads aims at providing better access to livelihood opportunities to improve the quality of life in the countryside.
President Arroyo expressed confidence that with the prevailing peaceful situation and that some of the IDPs have their own homes, the people will be engaged in more productive activities to spur development in the area.
