Tagalog News: Comelec: Walang batas ang nagbabawal sa political ads gamit ang PUBs

Manila (18 February) -- Inihayag ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) na walang batas na nagbabawal sa mga kandidato na magpaskil ng mga campaign posters o malalaking stickers sa public utility buses (PUBs).

Ayon kay Comelec Commissioner Nicodemo Ferrer, walang probisyon sa Fair Elections Act ang nagbabawal sa mga political aspirants na magpaskil ng kanilang advertisement sa nasabing public transport at wala rin umano sa kanilang batas na nag-uutos kung anong partikular na sukat ang maaari nilang ipaskil.

Gayon pa man, tinutukoy sa Republic Act No. 9006 na dapat hindi lalampas sa 8 by 14 inches ang sukat ng mga written at printed materials ng kandidato lalong hindi dapat lalampas sa 2 by 3 feet ang sukat ng mga posters.

Dagdag pa ni Ferrer, ang mga bus advertisement ng mga kandidato ay nakalagay sa pribadong mga pag-aari kaya ito naging legal.

Inamin ni Ferrer na kailangang maglalabas ang Comelec ng mga tuntunin para sa paggamit ng non-traditional elections campaign materials tulad ng anunsyo sa mga sasakyan at mobile billboards. (PIA 12) [top]
