Dagupan City (18 February) -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will visit her mother's hometown, Binalonan, tomorrow to grace various activities including the launching of the Aeronautical Highway of Northern Luzon at the Binalonan airfield.
From the airfield, the President will proceed to the University of Eastern Pangasinan to address the Climate Change conference. Scheduled in that forum is a lecture on solid waste management and coastal cleanup program by concerned agencies led by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
The Chief Executive is also slated to attend the Carlos S. Bulosan book launching and mini exhibit, also at the town-operated university.
Vice-Mayor Ramon Guico III will brief the President on the aeronautical highway project before the stakeholders will present to her the memorandum of understanding entered into for the purpose.
Guico, in an interview, said the Binalonan airfield will link with other airports in Northern Luzon for the transport of goods and passengers. "Mas mabilis ngayon ang travel time with the aeronautical highway," he noted. The airfield was inaugurated two years ago.
President Arroyo has made herself available every February to visit the municipality for its annual town fiesta. (PIA Pangasinan) [top]
