Dagupan City (18 February) -- The Commission on Filipinos Overseas will be in the provinces of Pangasinan and La Union starting March 1 to conduct a community education program on migration.
Executive Director Jose Maria Palabrica said the inter-agency community education and information campaign program seeks to assist prospective migrants in making informed decisions regarding settlement abroad, as well as to generate community involvement in migration concerns.
The information campaign, Palabrica said, also aims to raise public awareness on various issues concerning migration, intermarriage and existing government policies and programs against illegal recruitment, documentation fraud and human trafficking among others.
"We plan to reach out to the public in municipalities, cities and provinces through the conduct of school symposia on migration, public assemblies, radio interviews and interaction with community members," Palabrica added.
The group is scheduled to hold a press briefing and radio interviews in San Fernando City on March 1 and 2. In Pangasinan, a press briefing at the Dagupan City hall and a radio interview over DWCM-Aksyon Radyo are scheduled on March 3 while symposia and fora will be conducted on March 4 and 5 in Lingayen town and Alaminos City, respectively.
