"Know your water source" sets tone for Water Awareness Month
Iloilo (19 February) -- "Know your Water Source" is the local theme chosen by the Iloilo Watershed Management Council (IWMC) to set the tone for the observance of Water Awareness Month in March and the World Water Day on March 22.
Iloilo Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer (PENRO) Sol Sucaldito said the choice of the theme is also based on the International World Water Day theme for 2010 which is "Water Quality, reflecting its importance alongside quantity of the resource in Watershed Management."
Sucaldito said the IWMC decided not only to focus on water quality but also on water quantity in the light of its scarcity experienced by the province at this time of the drought brought by the El Nino.
