DOT 2 sees bigger, wider market in 17th Travel Expo

Tuguegarao City (19 February) -- The Department of Tourism (DOT) said that the participation of Region 2 in the 17th Travel Tour Expo from February 19-21, 2010 at the SMX Convention Center of SM Mall of Asia will bring new markets and wider customer base including foreign and domestic buyers for the region's products and tourism services.

With the theme "Ready Jet-Set, Go!", the Travel Tour aimed to surpass its previous accomplishments by showcasing bigger, better and wider product offerings, new markets and more foreign buyers.

DOT 2 will be promoting the various unique tourist products and services of the region in a setting that will give walk-in clients an inter-active experience with the region's prime destination, Callao Caves Tourist Zone.

Last year DOT 2 won the Best Decorated Booth, Domestic Pavilion Category. It also brought the famous Cercado sisters to perform during the DOT 2 program slot.

Meanwhile Director Blessida Diwa said the tourism industry in the region is not affected by the El Nino saying many domestic and foreign tourists continue to frequent Region 2 particularly Callao Caves in Penablanca, Aglipay Caves in Quirino and other tourist destinations in the region.

Diwa also said there is an increase of 0.75 per cent tourist arrival in the region despite the country's economic downturn last year and the natural calamities that affected the region. (PIA 2) [top]
