Agyao challenges officials to work together for Kalinga's vision

Tabuk City, Kalinga (20 February) -- Congressman Manuel S. Agyao of the Lone District of Kalinga encouraged officials, sectors and the public to unite for progress in Kalinga.

Underscoring the 15th Kalinga Anniversary and Ullalim Festival theme'One Voice, one dream, one province,' the solon said that this is a challenge for all officials and all sectors to work together so that progress will not remain as "only a dream."

Giving emphasis on the much needed infrastructure development such as irrigation systems and farm-to-market roads programs that ensure better production and transportation in the province for eco-tourism and agri-business to thrive, the solon appealed to officials to set aside political differences and instead help each other to push the province forward.

"Let us take time to reflect and understand our present situation so we can effectively move forward to better future," he said adding as he encouraged non-government organizations to take an active part in monitoring government endeavors.

To realize the dreams and aspiration of the people, he asked the public to support and cooperate with the officials and build a better society for Kalinga with its people working together.

With the province's 15th year anniversary celebration, the solon has expressed appreciation for the active participation of all sectors exhorting the significance of the event in promoting the Kalinga culture and performing arts.

"Through the ullalim festival, we recount the values that has kept alive our customs and traditions," he said stressing that "despite the foreign influences, Kalinga has remained as a sanctuary to the indigenous cultural heritage of our people."

Having conserved the best of its features through our cultural performing arts and ecology, Kalinga he said is becoming a major eco-cultural tourism destination in Northern Luzon, ensuring his "full support in promoting the province to bring the much needed investment here."

Agyao has also given his support in promoting the weaving industry of the province through the Laga Show which was one highlight of the Ullalim Festival. (ggdumallig/PIA-Kalinga) [top]
