More beneficiaries avail of social services from PGMA's administration
Manila (22 February) -- There were one million household beneficiaries through Department of Social Welfare & Development's project Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
The 4Ps provide poor families with cash for health and education.
In Kalahi-CIDSS program, as of June 2009, there were 5,555 barangays beneficiaries all over the country and benefited 1.14 million households. The program empowered poor communities to achieve social development through community projects.
In Bacolod City, the Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD) reported to have served 35,593 Bacolenos through its different services and programs in 2009.
The DSSD annual accomplishment report shows that the identified beneficiaries comprised of 1,149 heads of family; 6,318 mothers; 10,811-children; 355-youth; 3783-senior citizens; 815-disabled persons and 12,362 needy and distressed persons.
The beneficiaries were classified by the DSSD for the services and programs on health, education, social development, livelihood, practical skills trainings and seminars and among others.
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia said the city will continue to pursue its commitment to provide assistance and to promote and protect the welfare of the poor by implementing more programs and services to improve the quality of life of the Bacolenos. (PIA/cad) [top]
