Sarangani gov backs greater private sector investment in tourism
Koronadal City (22 February) -- For tourism industry to be a viable business and a sustainable venture, a larger part of the investment should come from the private sector, says Governor Miguel Rene Dominguez of Sarangani.
Gov. Dominguez, in his message during the fourth leg of Eco-Mismo: The Philippine Conference on Eco-Tourism and Eco-Productivity in this city on Saturday said, "Our formula in Sarangani, hindi po dapat ang gobyerno lamang ang mamumuhunan at magplano para sa isang industriya na ang makikinabang ay hindi lang ang gobyerno kundi tayong lahat."
"Six years ago, when Sarangani was created out of South Cotabato? Sarangani does not have tourism activity," Dominguez said.
It is now one of the major destinations in the region, taking pride in its pristine beaches, diving sites, water tubing adventures, and festivals to name a few. (PIA) [top]
