No one is spared, PNP is dead serious about election gun ban - Verzosa

San Fernando City, La Union (23 February) -- "Arrest of some law enforcers means PNP is dead-serious about the election gun ban and no VIP treatment is being observed, so no one is spared", this is what PNP PDG Jesus Ame Verzosa said in an interview during the 19th PNP Anniversary Celebration at Camp Brigadier General Oscar Florendo recently.
In the aim to ensure an honest, orderly, and peaceful elections, the Police Regional Office I continuously monitor election concerns.
For less than 2 months now, the Comelec-imposed gun ban implemented by PNP-RO1 has accounted for a total of 77 violators arrested from the whole region, among them are 73 civilians, 2 from the AFP, 1 BJMP, and 1 from other law enforcement agencies (LEA's).
In La Union, LUPPO have arrested 24 violators, Pangasinan - 35, Ilocos Sur - 8, and Ilocos Norte - 10.
49 firearms have been confiscated from said violators, 9 in La Union, 24 in Pangasinan, 6 in Ilocos Sur, and Ilocos Norte - 10
Routinary checkpoints conducted in the region as of this writing has reached 4139. Per province, data showed that La Union has 1001, Pangasinan - 1221, Ilocos Sur - 971, and Ilocos Norte - 946.
Intensified operations have been continuously getting under way for these offenders. as more and more people have been arrested coming from various Provinces, cities and municipalities.
On the other hand, Security applications received now reached a total of 167, which were forwarded to the Commission on Elections for validation and threat assessment.
