Bacolod celebrates 19th PNP anniversary

Bacolod City (23 February) -- The Bacolod City Police Office celebrated recently the 19th PNP Anniversary with the theme "Mamamayan at Kapulisan: Bayanihang Pangkatahimikan at Pangkaayusan" graced by Honorable Judge Allan Drilon as the guest speaker.

In a ceremony held at the BCPO grounds, Drilon told members of the Bacolod City Police that they are an indispensable organization at the forefront of the law enforcement, given the magnitude of the problems and challenges in law enforcement today.

"The PNP has the onerous responsibility of promoting law and order in our society. But it has to reposition itself for efficient and effective functionality being the strong arm of the civil government. There can be no disagreement to the proposition that economic growth and national development can be sustainable only in an environment of enduring peace, stability, security and the supremacy of the rule of law. This requires the strengthening of our law enforcement and administration of justice systems," Drilon added.

In the same celebration, awards were given to the best performing police stations in Bacolod City for 2009.

Police Station 5 was adjudged as the Best Police Station while Police Inspector Renato Ofamen, Station 5 Chief was named as the Best Chief of Police in Bacolod City.

Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia was also given a certificate of appreciation for extending his unselfish and untiring support to Bacolod City Police Office.

The other awardees were the Bacolod Crime Stoppers Incorporated; Bantay Bayan; Community Movement & Reaction against Crime and Illegal Drugs Incorporated (COMRAID); Centennial Force Foundation Incorporated (CFFI); Bacolod Movement against Crime (BMAC) and the Tri-Media.*(BCPO/PIA/EAD) [top]
