Iloilo stakeholders sign pledge for reliable, adequate power supply
Iloilo City (23 February) -- Various government agencies, local government units, power generation companies and electric cooperatives in Western Visayas have recently signed a declaration to bolster their pledge to provide a reliable and adequate power supply in the Visayas Grid.
The signing of the ?Statement of Commitment? capped the Power Stakeholders' Meeting held in Iloilo City on February 22 led by Energy Secretary Angelo Reyes to discuss and assess the power situation in the Visayas and to ensure there will be no power outages in the Visayas grid during the May election.
In the declaration, prepared during the meeting, the stakeholders agreed amongst others to fully cooperate in ensuring that there will be adequate and reliable supply of electric power in the Visayas region; cooperate and assist in resolving power emergency situation in Visayas and work out schemes to achieve this purpose; and agree on specific timelines and deliverables in implementing the commitments or projects considered during the meeting.
Among those who signed the ?Statement of Commitment? were Secretary Reyes, Iloilo Governor Niel Tupas, NPC President Froilan Tampinco, NEA Board of Administrator Wilfred Billena, PSALM President Jose Ibazeta and NTC's Atty. Moslemen Macarambon.
Representatives from the electric cooperatives who signed the declaration included AKELCO's Engr. Ricardo Ileto, ANTECO's Finance Manager Eugene Cervera, Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Incorporated's AGM-TS Edwin Montemayor, ILECO 1's General Manager (GM) Wilfred Billena, ILECO II's OIC-GM Jose Edmond S. Roqios, ILECO III's GM Antonio Lazarraga, GUIMELCO's GM Remedios Garcia, CAPELCO's GM Edgar Diaz and VMC Rural Electric Service Cooperative, Inc.'s GM Eduardo Parrocho.
Also, officers and representatives from the power generators and the different chapters of the Chamber of Commerce from Antique, Capiz and Iloilo signed the declaration. (PIA) [top]
