Tacloban City (24 February) -- In what can be called ironic in these times of financial constraints and when most government agencies complain of insufficient budget, the office of the Home Mutual and Development Fund dubbed PAG-IBIG has recently announced on air over Radyo ng Bayan DYES, their need for members to avail of loan programs, particularly multi-purpose loans (MPL).
PAG-IBIG Tacloban Information Officer, Kevin Siosana, was in town recently and expressed surprise why loan applicants in this part of the Region are few.
"We wonder why there are few loan applicants, that is why we came here to inform; maybe our members are not aware of this opportunity; in truth, every after six months, a member could apply for an MPL loan, especially when they have AIDS (acute income deficiency syndrome), Gidadamui it ipaurutang hit PAG-IBIG, pag apply kamo," the boyish Kevin jibed.
Also, Siosana announced that effective January 2009, PAG-IBIG is set to effect an expanded coverage in both private and public sector. While before contractual, temporary and job order wo
were not covered, today any worker receiving P4,000 up becomes a PAG-IBIG member. Likewise, the minimal monthly contribution will now increase to P200.00.
PAG-IBIG also informed the public that in the agency's history, it is this time when housing loans are pegged at lowest interest rate, being 6%.
"It is only in Borongan where developers and subdivisions do not exist. If only one developer could avail of our program, more members could easily own a house through PAG-IBIG housing loans," the guy from Oras wished.
Asked where goes the members' dividends because unlike GSIS they are not received every January, Kevin quickly replied that the PAG-IBIG being a savings agency don not grant dividends on a piece mill, rather, the funds are held intact until one retires or resigns from service. He also announced that PAG-IBIG IDs will soon be released. (PIA-Eastern Samar) [top]
