Dagupan City (24 February) -- A unified card would soon be adopted by four government agencies this April to streamline the ID system.
The Unifiied Multi-purpose Identification Card (UMID) will be the new card to replace the four different cards issued to members of Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), Social Security System (SSS), Philippine Health Insurance (Philhealth) and Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-ibig Fund).
GSIS regional manager Joselito Roldan said the purpose is to streamline and harmonize the four cards, thus, a member will only be holding one card.
"The UMID cards will be made available by March or April. Details of which will be out soon," Roldan said during the Pantongtongan Tayo radio program of the Philippine Information Agency aired live over Radyo ng Bayan Tuesday.
Roldan said the office is also very liquid in terms of financial status especially so that the office receives remittances every month. "GSIS assets today reached more than P500 billion," he said.
He also encouraged members to apply for their children, relatives or friends and take part in the raffle draw for GSIS scholarships where three entries from Dagupan will be drawn.
"The scholars will receive P2,000 monthly stipend and P20,000 tuition fee for a four to five year course in any school in the Philippines. The member of course should be of good membership standing in GSIS, " Roldan said. (PIA-Pangasinan) [top]
