'Sadsad Visayas' to gather famous Visayan festivals

Roxas City (24 February) -- Different world-renowned Visayan festivals will take part in a parade of festivals on March 11 here in line with the 2nd One Visayas One People One Destiny celebration.

"Negros Occidental and Cebu provinces have already confirmed to join," said Provincial Tourism Officer and One Visayas Director Alphonsus Tesoro.

He added that Negros Occidental will feature its Kanyon and Masskara festivals while Cebu will show at least six festivals during the parade dubbed "Sadsad Visayas."

"We are still waiting for the confirmation of other provinces," Tesoro noted.

A fiesta atmosphere will mark the parade of festivals as colorful and popular festivals will perform from Roxas City plaza to Villareal Stadium here.

The four-day celebration with the theme "Heroes and Nationalism" will showcase the arts, culture, heritage, products and festivals of the three Visayas regions.

President Gloria Macapagal ? Arroyo, who is presently on a tour of the Central Philippines Tourism super region, is expected to grace the opening rites of the big tourism event that will be hosted by the Capiz provincial government.

The tourism belt is composed of Siargao Island of Caraga (Region XIII), Camiguin of Northen Mindanao in Region 10, Visayas and Bicol regions, and Romblon and Palawan in Region 4?B.

The tourism super region accounts for 50 percent of the country's tourism industry.
