Iligan City (24 February) -- The Provincial Joint Security Control Center (JSCC) pursues a covenant for an Honest, Orderly and Peaceful Election (HOPE) in May 2010 election.
The covenant signing kicked-off on February 04 with initially 20 of the 22 municipalities of the province of Lanao del Norte, said Col. Leo Cresente M. Ferrer, 601st infantry brigade commander of the 6th Infantry Division, Philippine Army.
With their signatures affixed to the peace covenant, the political candidates have affirmed and committed themselves for a clean, honest, orderly and peaceful election throughout the electoral process.
And that they will reject all forms of violence, intimidation, coercion, and cheating just to get elected to the position they are aspiring for.
We aimed at binding themselves and their supporters to face the judgment of democratic election with humility and magnanimity, expressed Col. Ferrer.
We are looking forward to having the peace covenant signing of political candidates with provincial posts on the first week of March, in Tubod, this province, said Col. Ferrer.
For Iligan City, the peace covenant will be on March 19, 2010.
The JSCC is being established to craft and implement a strategy to address all election related security issues and concerns peculiar to an area in all regions, provinces and cities nationwide.
The chairperson will be the highest ranking official of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in the area, with members from the highest ranking officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP), and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) or his authorized representative, in the area.
