Malacaņang releases P145-M for RORO port in Katipunan town

Dipolog City (25 February) -- Mayor Crisostomo T. Eguia Jr. of Katipunan town recently disclosed that Malacaņang has already approved the release of P145 million for the completion of the roll-on, roll-off (Ro-Ro) port project in this municipality.

Initially the municipality borrowed P19 million from a local bank to start the port project, according to Mayor Eguia.

The provincial government of Zamboanga del Norte headed by Governor Rolando E. Yebes, on the other hand, has given P 5 million for the port project.

Mayor Eguia also said that representatives George Arnaiz and Pryde Henry Teves of Negros Oriental were the ones helping in getting funds for Ro port in his town.

Once completed, the Katipunan Ro-Ro port will connect the municipality of Zamboanguita in Negros Oriental, and is expected to benefit the businessmen as well as the farmers of the provinces of Zamboanga del Norte and Negros Oriental. (PIA-ZN) [top]
