Tagalog News: Termino ng Task Force Mindanao River Basin pinalawig ni PGMA

Manila (25 February) -- Pinalawig ni Pangulong Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo ang term of office ng Task Force on Mindanao River Basin Rehabilitation and Development ng dalawa pang taon. Dahil dito magsisilbi pa hanggang December 31, 2012 ang nasabing task force.

Sa pamamagitan ng Executive Order 753-B tinukoy ni Pangulong Arroyo na ang master plan para sa proyekto ay na-award lang noong Disyembre. Aniya, gagahulin ng panahon ang task force sa pag-iimplementa ng proyekto kung hindi palalawigin ang term of office nito na ayon sa orihinal na plano ay magtatapos sa Setyembre ng kasalukuyang taon.

Ang Task Force for Mindanao River Basin Rehabilitation and Development ay pinamumunuan ni Archbishop Orlando Quevedo ng Cotabato.

Binigyang diin din ni Pangulong Arroyo na ang rehabilitation and development project sa Mindanao River Basin ay pang-matagalang proyekto ng pamahalaan na di dapat mabalam.

Ang Mindanao River Basin ang pangalawang pinakamalaking river basin sa bansa at may catchment area na 23,169 square kilometers. Ito ay sumasakop sa mga lalawigan ng North Cotabato, Sarangani, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat at lungsod ng Cotabato.

Ang river basin, particular ang Liguasan Marsh na isa sa pinakamalaking wetlands sa bansa, ay hitik sa wild flora and fauna. (DE Doguiles/PIA 12) [top]
