NSO Leyte hires service contractors for 2010 census on population and housing

Tacloban City (February 25) -- The National Statistics Office (NSO), Leyte Provincial Office, is now hiring service contractors who will perform the task as Enumerators and Census Area Supervisors/Assistant Census Area Supervisors for the 2010 Census of Population and Housing which will start on May.

This was learned from Wilma A. Perante, Provincial Statistics Officer, who informed PIA that these enumerators, who will carry out the jobs in the enumeration and supervision activities, will be assigned in designated special areas in the cities and municipalities.

According to Perante, applicants for enumerators must be a college graduate or completed at least second year college; able to speak the local dialect; with pleasing personality and the ability to deal with the public tactfully; and, willing to be assigned in any barangay within the province.

Perante further informed that for Census Area Supervisors/Assistant Census Area Supervisors, NSO prefers applicants who are college graduates; with experience in census/survey; with supervisory background in census, survey or similar operations; and should have cellphone unit which will be used in sending summary data from the Progress Reports.

In addition, both enumerators and Census Area Supervisors/Assistant Census Area Supervisors must not be more than 40 years old; with legible handwriting; physically fit and able; with good moral character; resident of the barangay city or municipality; and willing to work overtime to include Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, Perante added.

Moreover, Perante informed that applicants may submit handwritten application letter, Personal Data Sheet or resume to the Office of the Mayor, Local Civil Registrar, or directly to Ms. Anesia S. Babante for evaluation on or before March 5, 2010. Qualifying examination will be conducted on March 8-12 in designated cluster areas or municipalities.
