DOST XI employees train on poll automation

Davao City (26 February) -- Seventeen employees from the Department of Science and Technology Regional Office XI (DOST XI) attended a two-day training on poll automation on February 19-20, 2010 at the Waterfront Insular Hotel, Davao City.

The DOST XI will form the Regional Certification Team, tasked to ensure that the Board of Election Inspectors (BEI) members are capable of operating the Precinct Count Optical Scanner (PCOS) machines during the 2010 Automated Elections.

The selected DOST XI personnel were trained how to operate the PCOS machines and some basic troubleshooting techniques.

This March 2010, the DOST XI certifiers will administer written and practical examinations on PCOS operation to 6,862 teachers from Region XI after the BEI training with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and the Department of Education (DepEd). At least one certified member of the BEI will be assigned to each of the 3,431 clustered precincts regionwide.

The training attended by DOST personnel include poll machine operation, Election Day procedures, and the consolidated counting and canvassing system. The said training is crucial in the implementation and success of the May 10, 2010 election. (PIA) [top]
