PGMA to inaugurate P650-M Delfin Albano bridge, P101-M NIA pumping station

D. Albano, Isabela (February 26) -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is set to visit Isabela particularly in the town of Delfin Albano to inaugurate a government's multi-million bridge that was completed last December 2009 including the official switching on of the NIA water pumping station project in the same town just few meters away from the newly-constructed bridge.

The construction of the Delfin Albano bridge was started in November 2006 with a project cost of P650 million and completed on December 21, 2010, six months advance from its target completion date that should be on June 5, 2010.

The bridge is located along the Tumauini- Delfin Albano road, more than one kilometer from the Maharlika road in Tumauini, Isabela and spans the Cagayan River connecting to Santo Tomas, Mallig, including Kalinga and Apayao to and from the various commercial center of the Norhtern Luzon Quadrangle.

This linkage facilitates the transport of goods and services and eases the mobility of traveling public from the eastern and western municipalities.

The bridge's completion is attributed to the never-ending follow-up of first district Congressman Rodito Albano since he sees the burden of his constituents transporting through bancas their goods and farm products to nearby towns.

Mayor Tomas Pua, Jr. said that the completion of the bridge will give the residence a big boost in economic activity.

Pua said that since his childhood, he dreamed that someday there should be built a bridge to ease the burden of transporting goods or farm products of his constituents especially when the Cagayan River waters will rise during rainy seasons but previous administrations passed and did not give priorities connecting his town.

Only now that at his age of more than half-century, his dream come true and he thanked President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo for realizing his dream and the dreams of every Delfin Albano residents.

Meanwhile, a P101 million constructed Delfin Albano Communal Pump Irrigation Project located at barangay San Antonio of the same town will be switched on by no less than President Gloria Macapagal- Arroyo after the bridge inauguration.

The Delfin Albano water pumping station project is a Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) funded that is expected to irrigate 960 hectares covering seven barangays nemaly, San Antonio, San Juan, Ragar Sur, San Jose, San Patricio, Rizal and Villaluz.

The water source will be the from the Cagayan river. (PIA Isabela) [top]
