Roxas City (26 February) -- The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Revenue District Office (RDO) No. 72 has started its countdown to the April 15 Income Tax Returns (ITR) and payments deadline.
The RDO has also scheduled a press conference with Capiz mediamen and a caravan on March 3 to complement the countdown aimed at encouraging taxpayers to file their ITR for the taxable year 2009 and pay the corresponding taxes early to avoid rush in banks and BIR offices.
"Our new Regional Director Glen Geraldino would like to meet the members of the tri-media," said BIR RDO No. 72 head Gil G. Tabanda.
The intensified communication campaign to make the people aware of the Income Tax filing season is in line with the Bureau's 2010 theme and slogan "Making The Public Know" which aptly reflects the thrust of Commissioner Joel L. Tan - Torres of pursuing a high visibility communication to all stakeholders of the BIR's tax administration activities and initiatives.
Recently, the Bureau's Taxpayer Information and Education Division (TIED) said that all BIR-Authorized Agent Banks (AABs) have been requested to open on two consecutive Saturdays, March 27(in lieu of April 3 which is Black Saturday) and April 10, 2010.
The AABs were also requested to extend their banking hours up to 5:00 o'clock in the afternoon, for the period April 5 to April 15, 2010, to accept tax returns and payments.
