Stand shoulder to shoulder to lift our nation, PGMA tells Cagayan youth

Tuguegarao City (4 March) -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has exhorted hundreds of Cagayano youth to join hands with the government in the effort to uplift the nation to open more opportunities" for the next generation of Filipinos.

"You, the youth of our nation in particular, deserve a better deal than your parents. In you, we will see a brighter day. No price is too high to pay for your education and your future success," the President stressed.

The President spoke here before students, teachers, faculty members and officials of the Florencio L. Vargas College as part of her tour of the Northern Luzon Agribusiness Quadrangle (NLAQ).

The Chief Executive stressed that she took the courage to make unpopular decisions to investing billions of pesos across the nation to tie the nation together though a better, more modern transportation system; lift up the next generation with more schools to ensure a better education; and keep the nation clean, safe and beautiful.

The Chief Executive was interrupted in her speech when an Intensity 3 quake of tectonic origin shook the hall. "There is an earthquake, let us pray that this will not be like Haiti or Chile", the president said as she continued with her message.

She stressed that she took the courage to make unpopular decisions which are now bearing fruits and bringing brighter future for the Filipinos.

The President pointed out that the nation must expand its political and economic footprint to lift up all regions, not just Metro Manila. (PIA 2) [top]
