Kalinga celebrates civil registration month

Tabuk City, Kalinga (6 March) -- The provincial government under the auspices of the National Statistics Office (NSO) here celebrated the Civil Registration Month last February through service delivery particularly free issuance of certifications.

Celebrating on the theme: "Wastong Rehistro: Lahat Panalo", NSO enjoined the public to participate and support the commemoration of the National Birth Registration Day on February 23 and 27, day through registration of birth in respective registrars office.

According to Provincial Statistics Officer Avelino Cadalig, all concerned were advised to visit their respective civil registrar office to register and claim for free the corresponding birth certificates.

Cadalig said NSO also conducted IECs in high school and colleges here on civil registration.

Meanwhile, Cadalig informed that NSO will also conduct in May the census on population and housing and their characteristics aimed at collecting data about the population and the living quarters in the country.

He said the objective of the census is to provide government planners, policy makers, and administrators with data on which to base their social and economic development plans and programs.

The census taking will begin on May 17 this year and will last about 23 days.

Cadalig said teachers and enumerators will be hired to conduct the survey in the 14 municipalities of Kalinga and Apayao and this city. He said before the survey, enumerators will be trained on 4 levels from March 18 to May 1. (PIA) [top]
