UNWFP brings more relief assistance to Mt Province

Bontoc, Mt. Province (6 March) -- The United Nation World Food Program (UNWFP) delivered last Tuesday another relief assistance of 1,389 bags of rice, 698 boxes of lard, and 1,238 boxes of high energy biscuits which will benefit 2,778 identified families in Mt. Province.

Of the total beneficiaries, the municipality of Tadian has the most identified beneficiaries of 1,431 followed by the municipality of Bauko with 819. The municipality of Sadanga has 143 beneficiaries, Paracelis with 76; Natonin, 54; Bontoc, 49; Barlig,48; Sabangan, 46; Besao, 26; and Sagada, 15.

These relief goods were coursed through Erlinda Likigan of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Mt. Province, who is in-charge in the distribution to the different municipalities thru their Municipal Social Worker.

Likigan said each identified family will receive 25 kilos of rice, one can of lard and high-energy biscuits. Distribution will be conducted only when the representative of the UNWFP comes to Mt. Province because she wants to meet the beneficiaries.

It will be recalled that last January, the relief assistance of UNWFP has benefited 143 families per municipality purposely for Food for Work Program.

Each beneficiary was given 25 kgs of rice, one can lard and high-enegry biscuits in exchange of their service they have rendered in community work like restoring damaged irrigation, farm to market road, foot rails, barangay road wrought by previous typhoons. (PIA-MP) [top]
