Villages under CPC6 ask to join evaluation conference

Dumaguete City (March 10) -- The Communication Component/Task Force of the 6th Country Programme for Children (CPC6) has called on the Barangay Captains, Parent-Teacher Association Presidents, Teacher-In-Charge and student leaders from the 10 identified disparity barangays to participate in the evaluation conference on March 11-12, 2010 at the Plaza Ma. Luisa Suites Inn, Dumaguete City.
Stakeholders from the disparity barangays of Kalamtukan/Damig, Bayawan City; Salag, Siaton; Sacsac, Siaton; Malongkay Dacu, Dauin; East Balabag, Valencia; Calinawan, Sibulan; Luca, Tanjay City; Sacsac, Manjuyod; Bios, Amlan; Hinakpan, Guihulngan will evaluate the Information Education & Communication (IEC) advocacy campaign materials addressing to reduce absenteeism and drop out problems which has been identified as one of the issues affecting the school-barangays.
IEC advocacy include posters, tarpaulin/streamers, flyers, radio plugs, and t-shirts have been distributed to the disparity barangays for the different specific target audiences such as the parents, teachers, and children to encourage or persuade them to attend school regularly.
The workshop will also incorporate the validation of teacher-applicants for the search for outstanding primary school teachers who made some efforts and initiatives to promote children participation and attendance in school.
The two-day activity strengthens stakeholders and parents to be more aware and sensitive to children's rights and able to make informed choices and empowered to take actions toward promoting and protecting children's rights. (PIA/JCT) [top]
