PGMA to visit Tampilisan town
Tampilisan, Zamboanga del Norte (10 March) -- "Maam, are we dreaming?"
This was how the students of Jose Rizal Meorial State University-Tampilisan campus reacted upon learning from their professor that President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is going to visit their school tomorrow.
Among the country's leaders, President Arroyo is the first chief executive who has decided to visit this school since its existence in 1958.
President Arroyo, who will visit Tawi-Tawi, Baliguian and Tampilisan in Zamboanga del Norte and Cebu City tomorrow, is going to meet the local officials here as well as the students, faculty and staff of JRMSU.
The President is expected to present her accomplishments of super region projects in Mindanao.
She is also going to encourage the students, the next generation leaders, to give premium on education, as this will give them better opportunities in the days ahead.
JRMSU-Tampilisan was formerly Zamboanga del Norte Agricultural College (ZNAC), the first government school in the province offering courses in agriculture.
It was only in 2007 that ZNAC was officially integrated into the Jose Rizal Memorial State College (JRMSC) system, now Jose Rizal Memorial State University (JRMSU) by virtue of Republic Act 9852 signed by President Arroyo on December 15, 2009. (PIA-ZN) [top]
