Synchronized barangay assembly day set on March 27

Iligan City (12 March) -- The barangay officials shall undertake activities deem appropriate to get the interest of the residents to attend the barangay assembly.
Pursuant to Proclamation No. 342 declaring the last Saturday of March 2003 andrday of October 2003 and every year thereafter as Barangay Assembly Day."
Thus, the country's Synchronized Barangay Assembly Day for the first semester of calendar year (CY) 2010 will be on March 27, 2010.
As mandated by the Local Government Code, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), the barangay shall undertake activities, as follows:
a. Presentation of Accomplishment and Financial Reports from July to December 2009;
b. Discussion on problems, issues and concerns affecting the barangays particularly on solid waste management and the use of illegal drugs; and
c. Discussion on Climate Change and the El Niņo phenomenon.
All provincial governors, city and municipal mayors are enjoined to extend assistance to the barangays to ensure the successful conduct of the event.
Engr. Jane Docallos, city director of DILG in Iligan City, said barangay officials are enjoined to prepare posters or banners to be hanged for at least two (2) weeks before the assembly date in conspicuous places like barangay hall, plaza, and main street. (PIA LDN) [top]
