SICAPO adopts Barangay Logucan for outreach program

Province of Siquijor (15 March) -- The Siquijor Council of Administrative and Personnel Officer (SICAPO) recently sealed a Memorandum of Agreement with Barangay Captain Lenita Sumile adopting Barangay Logucan of Maria, Siquijor as the pilot barangay for its information campaign and outreach program.

The council through SICAPO President. Nila T. Caroro of Siquijor State College and in the presence of Civil Service Commission Provincial Director Merlinda Flores Quillano, and Personnel Specialist Rachel C. Canceran, signed the MOA with the barangay officials to adopt Barangay Logucan and focus its attention in terms of development and public services offered by the different national and local agencies who are members of the council.

Greening Barangay Logucan project, a tree planting activity in one of the public land was initially conducted during the information campaign and outreach program recently where members of the council with the barangay folks took share in planting and replanting mahogany and gemilina seedlings. The barangay will assume stewardship and care of the trees, the SICAPO said.

The activity is in line with the CSC's response to the program of "Mamamayan Muna, Hindi Mamaya Na", a nationwide client-satisfaction program which attempts to instill courteous and efficient behavior among public servants. The activity will make SICAPO realize its objective to establish a pool of government personnel and administrative Officers that could render public service with dispatch.

The SICAPO were represented by different line agencies such as CSC, SSC, DPWH, NSO, OPA, PGO, PVO, MLGUs, NFA, IPHO, TESDA., MSWD, DepEd and DENR.

Services such as civil registration (February as Civil Registry Month), rabies vaccination and ambulatory clinic, tekno klinik, acceptance of appplication for Civil Service Examination, information as to qualification for barangay eligibilities, campaign for scholarship programs offered by SSC, free short term courses offered by TESDA and other services of DENR on land information, cutting permits, coastal resource management, foreshore leases, timberlands, and planting of forest trees as provided in the Land Cicular 141 and PD 705 were discussed.

After the campaign, and as SICAPOs way of sharing Gods blessings to the less privilege, the council distributed packs of food and grocery items, slightly used clothing and planting materials to make everyone happy in SICAPOs little way of touching lives. (Pilar Cabanlas-PGO) [top]
