Bangko Sentral tutors stakeholders on counterfeit detection

Tacloban City (March 15) -- The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas is scheduled to conduct a series of seminars for its various publics this month of March.

Atty. Leonides B. Sumbi, acting Deputy Director of the BSP Tacloban Branch, informed that the "Know Your Philippine Currency and Counterfeit Detection" seminars are intended to help the public recognize genuine Philippine currency notes and to teach the public to safeguard themselves from counterfeits.

The Bangko Sentral brought these seminars to the provinces for the convenience of the target participants and their safety as well, Atty Sumbi said.

Invited as participants are representatives of utility companies, commercial establishments, universities and colleges, government institutions and local government units and other interested institutions, preferably those who handle cash, Atty. Sumbi added.

Four seminars have been scheduled to be conducted at the Economic and Financial Learning Center, BSP Tacloban Branch along Senator Enage Street.

On March 17, from 2:00 o'clock to 4:00 o'clock in the afternoon, the seminar will be for the utility companies.

From 9:00 o'clock to 11:00 o'clock in the morning of March 18, the seminar will have the commercial establishments as the participants.

Still on March 18, from 1:00 to 3:00 o'clock in the afternoon, the seminar will have the universities and the academe as its participants.

The last scheduled seminar on March 18, from 3:00 o'clock to 5:00 o'clock in the afternoon, is intended for the government institutions and local government units.

Atty. Sumbi underscored that no registration fee will be collected for the seminar. The various stakeholders invited are called upon to participate in the seminar especially with the fact that news about counterfeit money are heard about in the area. (PIA 8) [top]
