DBM conducts trainings on procurement law for various stakeholders

Tacloban City (March 16) -- The Department of Budget and Management Regional Office 8 is set to conduct full length trainings on Government Procurement Reform Act or RA 9184 and its Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations on various dates and venues, for the Bids and Awards Committee members/ Secretariat/ TWG and accountants.

This was learned from DBM Region 8 Director Imelda Laceras who disclosed that the trainings will be conducted in coordination with the Region Eight Association of Local Budget Officers and the Expanded Composite Team Members (DBM, DILG, COA).

The first training schedule is on March 16 to 17 at the DPWH Multi-Purpose Hall at Candahug, Palo, Leyte, specifically for State Universities and Colleges, WDs, DHED, TESDA, DOH, DPWH RO and District Offices.

The second training will be conducted on March 18-19 at the DepEd Region 8 RELC, specifically for DepEd Regional Office and Division Offices of Tacloban, Leyte, Ormoc, Biliran, Southern Leyte, Maasin and Calbayog.

The April 12-13 training schedule at the DepEd RELC is specifically for DepEd 8 Division Offices of Samar, Eastern Samar and Northern Samar.

The other national government agencies, GOCCs, GFIs? Regional Offices have been invited to the April 14-15 at the DepEd RELC.

Director Laceras said that there is also a scheduled training on April 19, specifically designed for the Heads of Procuring Entities (HOPE).

The training design for the HOPE gives emphasis on their roles and responsibilities as the final approving authority on all their procurement while pointing out important things they need to know in the conduct of their procurement activities.

Director Laceras is encouraging the heads of offices to attend and send their participants to the said training for them to be updated of the Revised IRR of Government Procurement Reform Act and for them to be guided accordingly in their procurement activities.

Director Laceras also emphasized that the only authorized trainers of the said law are the Composite Team Members duly created and trained by the Government Procurement Policy Board.
