Health of WVRAA athletes well cared for, say officials
Makato, Aklan (16 March) -- The health concerns of every athlete in the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet (WVRAAM) in the province are being well taken cared said town doctor Rane Tabanar.
At least 3,000 athletes coming from different provinces in the region are here competing in the different sports event.
"Every provinces has their respective health officers to take care of the health of their delegates. We are also being assisted by the Department of Health, Philippine National Red Cross and volunteers," Tabanar said.
The PNRC have deployed first aid stations in tournament sites while the town of Makato have their own district hospital to respond to any emergencies.
Report said, one athlete so far have been airlifted in Iloilo after suffering injury while several others were given medical attention due to the scorching heat brought about by El Nino.
The WVRAAM started last March 14 and will culminate March 20 at the Aklan Sports Complex, Barangay Calangcang, Makato. (PIA) [top]
