Talisay City, Pilar, Argao win most gender-responsive LGUs in Cebu

Cebu, Philippines (22 March) -- Talisay City, Pilar and Argao towns won in the 2009 search for the most gender-responsive LGUs (GeRL) in the component city, 4th-6th class and 1st-3rd categories respectively.
The winners were awarded with certificates of participation and P50T each during the 10th Provincial Women's Congress at the CICC, Cebu on March 19 with Cebu governor Gwen Garcia and provincial board member Agnes Magpale giving the awards.
The 2009 GeRL search is on its 2nd year this year. It began on October 20, 2009 where the search tool was introduced to the various LGUs in the province. Eighteen (18) LGUs submitted their entries and only nine (9) LGUs survived the screening.
Madrilena de la Cerna, chair, panel of judges said the search has three categories. The 4th-6th class municipalities composed the 1st category and there were six (6) entries, namely: Boljoon, Borbon, Catmon, Oslob, Pilar, Santander and Tabuelan.
Second category that is composed of the 1st-3rd class towns had 8 entries-Agao, Balamban, Bantayan, Barili, Consolacion, Liloan, Pinamungahan, and San Fernando. Argao, balamban and Consolacion became the finalists with Argao as the winner for that category.
For the 3rd category that includes the component cities, had only two entries; Talisay and Naga cities. Talisay City made it for the 2nd win this year.
The winners of the three categories received each P50T while the finalists got P15T each and a certificate of participation for all LGUs that submitted their entries for the 2009 GeRL search. (PIA-7/MBCN) [top]
