More Bacolenos to get health cards
Bacolod City (24 March) -- The local government of Bacolod is set to complete the distribution of the 20,000 PhilHealth cards to the residents of its 61 barangays by March 2010.
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia disclosed that some 11,050 PhilHealth cards to be distributed to qualified residents and the remaining 8,950 this month.
On the national scale, PhilHealth membership has reached 81.64 million beneficiaries as of July 2009.
Leonardia said that provision of free PhilHealth cards is among the priority projects of the city government for the benefit of those who need health services but cannot afford it.
The mayor added that through this, health programs and services become accessible to many people who cannot meet the expenses of their medical and health needs.
