Calbayog City Water District airs concern over dwindling water supply
Catbalogan City (March 25) -- The Calbayog City Water District stated that it is a expecting significant reduction in its raw water supply in the coming months as a result of El Niņo.
In an advisory early this March, the management issued its concessionaires an advisory to this effect.
However, it assured the concessionaires that the management is making necessary preparation and linkage with the concerned government agencies to manage the situation and minimize the concessionaires' inconvenience."
"We must remain vigilant in preparing for the possible continuation of drought cycle. Thus, the CCWD Management appeals to the general public to CONSERVE AND USE WATER WISELY."
The advisory further stated that;
"We will provide the public with regular updates regarding the effect of El Niņo on our operation and service delivery so we can better manage our water supply."
In Catbalogan City, some 87 kilometers away from Calbayog City, the management is not experiencing the same reduction in water supply, just last week, PIA inquired if Catbalogan Water District is experiencing problems in water supply, Engr Ralph Uy replied in the negative.
The water district though has intensified its monitoring of leaking pipes and recommending repair to concessionaires to ensure that water is conserved and is not wasted. (Ron Ricafort with PIA-Samar) [top]
