Tagalog News: DOH binigyang-diin ang kahalagahan ng ligtas, at malinis na inuming tubig

Manila (31 March) -- Pinaalalahanan ng Department of Health (DOH) ang publiko na siguruhing malinis at ligtas ang kanilang inuming tubig sa gitna ng napa-ulat na water crisis at kasabay ng pagdiriwang ng "Clean Water & Energy Week."

Matatandaang idineklara ng Pangulong Gloria Macapagal Arroyo noong Marso 22 hanggang 28 ang programang Clean Water & Energy Week for a Healthy World sa pamamagitan ng Presidential Proclamation No. 23 bilang pagsuporta sa United Nations Declaration kung saan itinakdang World Day for Water ang Marso 22.

Payo ni DOH Secretary Esperanza Cabral sa publiko upang maging ligtas ang inuming tubig sa bawat tahanan, pakuluan lamang ito sa loob ng dalawang minuto para patayin ang mga bacteria at ilang micro-organisms sa tubig na sanhi ng pagkakaroon ng diarrhea at iba pang food-and-water borne diseases.

Ayon kay Cabral, malaking tulong rin ang personal hygiene practices para maiwasan ang mga sakit, gaya ng paghuhugas ng kamay bago at pagkatapos gumamit ng palikuran at bago at pagkatapos kumain.

Nangunguna sa listahan ng maraming mamamayan sa bansa ang nagkakasakit at namamatay sa food-and-water borne diseases gaya ng cholera at typhoid fever.

Ang cholera, na karaniwang pangunahing sintomas ang pagtatae, ay maaring magdulot ng dehydration at maaari rin itong makamatay sakaling hindi maagapan. Samantala, ang sintomas ng taong may typhoid ay ang pagkakaroon ng mataas ng lagnat, pananakit ng ulo, panghihina ng katawan at constipation o abdominal discomfort. (BDEnestois/PIA12) [top]
