Mt Province forms provincial census coordinating board

Bontoc, Mt. Province (1 May) -- Two important events will be conducted in the month of May this year. Aside from the first automated elections on May 10, is the conduct of the 2010 Census of Population and Housing.
The 2010 Census of Population and Housing (CPH) is designed to take an inventory of the total population and housing units in the country which aims to provide government planners, policy makers and administrators with data on which to base their social and economic development plans and programs.
In support to the conduct of 2010 Census of Population and Housing, Governor Maximo Dalog issued Executive Order No. 46, s. 2010 creating the Provincial Census Coordinating Board as per National Statistical Coordination Board Resolution No. 15, s.2009.
As provided under this executive order, the Board is chaired by the Provincial governor, co-chaired by Schools Division Superintendent Mary A. Lang-ayan. Members include District Engineer John T. Marquez, Police Senior superintendent Fortunato Albas, Provincial Planning and Development Officer Lily Rose Kollin, Provincial Assessor Nicholas Kimakim, Provincial Agriculturist John Likigan, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer Manuel Pogeyed, Provincial social Welfare and Development Officer Rosalinda Belagan, Provincial Information Officer Angel Baybay, provincial Statistics Officer Adrian Cerezo, NCIP Development Management Officer V and three representatives from the private sector.
The Board is tasked to assess the needs of the National Statistics Office (NSO) in the province in terms of transportation, communication, security, and publicity; make an inventory of the transportation and communication facilities available for use in the census operation; specify the areas of involvement or participation of the agencies within the limits of their resources; assist the City/Municipal Census coordinating Board in the conduct of the publicity and information campaign; refer to the regional Census coordinating board (RCCB) matters which cannot be resolved in the Provincial Census Coordinating Board; and to take up other matters as may be specified by the RCCB or as necessary for the successful conduct of the census.
The conduct of the 2010 Census of Population and Housing is timed May which is declared as Census Month as per Presidential Proclamation No. 2028. (PIA-MP) [top]
