Bontoc, Mt. Province (1 May) -- The National Statistics Office here hired some 154 people for the conduct of the 2010 Census of Population and Housing scheduled in May.
Based on the information provided by the NSO personnel, 142 of the hired people are enumerators of which 122 are teachers who shall be paid on honorarium basis while the other 20 shall be paid a daily wage of P279.50.
Ten of the hired people are Census Area Supervisors (CAS), two of which are teachers. The CAS shall receive a daily wage of P367.00 except for the two teachers who shall be paid on honorarium basis, and the remaining two are Assistant Census Area Supervisors (ACAS) with a daily wage of P338.00.
To perform their job satisfactorily and in accordance with the prescribed rules and procedures, Provincial Statistics Officer Adrian Cerezo together with his staff are conducting one week training to recruited enumerators per municipality.
The hired Area supervisors together with the Assistant Census Area Supervisors were also trained earlier on all aspects of census work from pre-enumeration to post-enumeration activities to be familiar with all the mapping, listing and enumeration procedures and the materials use.
The CAS is responsible for the census operation in a city or municipality to be assisted by an ACAS depending on the workload and the expected duration to cover the city or municipality. The CAS together with the ACAS supervise all the team supervisors in their assigned area and also serve as the link between the District Statistics Officer/Statistical Coordination Officer and the Team supervisors.
As provided under Batas Pambansa Blg. 72, taking an integrated census is every ten years beginning in 1980, in accordance with the plans to be prepared by the National Statistics Office. (PIA-MP) [top]
