PCOS machines for Batanes and Cagayan delivered

by Oliver T. Baccay

Tuguegarao City (1 May) -- The Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machines which will be utilized for the first ever automated elections for the provinces of Batanes and Cagayan were already delivered by Smartmatic.

Dir. Noli Pipo, newly assigned Regional Director of COMELEC 2, said the delivery of PCOS machines and election paraphernalia for the island province of Batanes has been successful and completed.

For the province of Cagayan, he said, 4 truckloads of PCOS Machines and the other needed materials were delivered but refused to give detailed information about the machines for security purposes.

He said the machines were placed in a highly secured hub and manned by personnel hired by Smartmatic with military personnel assigned in securing the materials.

Pipo expressed confidence that all machines will be delivered to all provinces of the region up to the precinct before the actual election.

He further assured that the PCOS machines and paraphernalia for the islands, coastal zones and far flung areas will be delivered safe and secured.

On the other hand, Dir. Pipo urged all sectors of the society, especially the voting public, to help in securing the conduct of safe, orderly, peaceful and successful elections. (PIA 2) [top]
