PGMA to inaugurate Bitnung-Belanse Road

by Oliver Baccay

Tuguegarao City (1 May) -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is set to inaugurate on Monday (May 3) the Bitnung-Belanse farm-to-market road project located at Dupax del Norte, Nueva Vizcaya.

The project that costs Php330 Million would certainly ease the burden of vegetable trading in Cagayan Valley. It was implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Nueva Vizcaya and completed April 30, 2010, way ahead to its target date of completion which is June 22, 2010.

The road project was one of the promises of President Arroyo to the upland farmers and residents of Nueva Vizcaya last 2008. Las year, mhe personally inspected the construction of the farm-to-market road project that links Dupax del Norte town to the rest of Nueva Vizcaya, and now she is about to open the road to the beneficiaries of the project.

The officials of Nueva Vizcaya claims that the project is one of the legacies of the President for Novo Vizcayanos which aims to develop rural road network that provides access roads from rural areas to major arterial road links in order to promote and sustain regional industries and agricultural activities, and to improve living standards of inhabitants in the rural areas.

The project would certainly go along way in bridging people from rural communities into mainstream of progress and development.

Barangay Belanse is an agricultural-rich community with cool climate all-year which is conducive to farming and planting of fruits, vegetables and root crops like citrus, cabbage, lettuce, yacoon, ginger, sweet potato, and others.

The completed major infrastructure project will not only help farmers in transporting their produce but also triggers economic activities particularly vegetable and fruit trading in the municipalities of Bambang, Aritao, Bayombong and Solano.

Likewise, the improved access road will not only reduce travel time but also paved the opening of new opportunities for the area like transport, retail and commercial services, and also job generation due to inflow of new investments. (PIA 2) [top]
