Tuguegarao City (4 May) -- Hundreds of newly graduates have dominated the Labor Day jobs fair organized by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 2.
Regional Director Grace Y. Ursua said, based on their monitoring, most of the job seekers were fresh graduates who filed their applications in different job vacancies local and abroad.
Ursua said she observed that majority of the job hunters applied for local positions while former Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) tried again their luck in applying for abroad.
Ursua also said there are many vacant positions but several applicants lack some of the major requirements needed by the recruitment agencies, especially work experience.
"Those former OFWs have the big chance to be employed because they have acquired the necessary requirements such as skills and experience in working abroad", Ursua said.
The Director also advised the applicants to wait for confirmation from the agencies they applied, but must try to apply in other job opportunities to have a bigger chance to be employed immediately.
She added that the job fair conducted will surely give an increase to the employment rate of the region that will maintain its standing as the region that have the highest employment rating nationwide. (PIA 2) [top]
