Tuguegarao City (4 May) -- The newly installed regional director of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Region 2, PCSupt. Benedict Michael Fokno, has urged all registered voters to go out and exercise their right of suffrage on election time and help in ensuring peaceful election.
Fokno said the most challenging duty he is facing is safeguarding the public in the conduct of election and ensuring that their votes will be respected.
"I believe that the voters of Region 2 are intelligent and proactive in helping the policemen in making 2010 poll automation clean, safe, peaceful and successful", Fokno said.
He said the police force is now under red alert and everything is in place to ensure that the election proceedings will be peaceful.
On the other hand, Gen. Jefferson Soriano, PNP Deputy Director General, encouraged the voting public to help safeguard their votes and not to be afraid to vote the candidate that their conscience dictates.
Gen. Soriano, who was a two time regional director of PNP 2, said he knows how election is being conducted in the region but posed a challenge to the police officers and the armed force to remain apolitical and neutral in the exercise of their duties and responsibilities in this 2010 elections.
"We must always neutral and apolitical in doing our job during elections. The will of the voting public must be respected", Soriano added. (PIA 2) [top]
