Treasurer takes custody of election paraphernalia
Iloilo City (4 May) -- Election supplies and paraphernalia including the official ballots that will be used in the forthcoming local and national elections in this city on May 10 are now in the custody of the Iloilo City Treasurer's Office.
City Treasurer Katherine Tingzon said the 344 sealed boxes containing the official ballots for Iloilo City arrived in two batches last Saturday, May 1 at the Iloilo Airport in Cabatuan town.
The batches arrived at 9:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., flights of Cebu Pacific, respectively.
Tingzon said the boxes are now at the City Treasurer's Office warehouse in the district of Molo along with the election supplies and paraphernalia which started to arrive since last week.
The election supplies and paraphernalia will be used by the Bureau of Election Inspectors (BEIs) during elections day. Some of these are thumbprint takers, indelible inks, and forms.
The Philippine National Police is helping the personnel of the City Treasurer's Office in safeguarding the election paraphernalia until their target date of distribution.
Tingzon said they will distribute the ballots boxes including the election supplies and paraphernalia to the BEIs as early as 1 a.m. on May 10. (PIA) [top]
